new song on page
So my neighbor, John Johnson, writes music and asked me to lay down some vocals and build harmonies for one of his recent songs, The President's Eyes. It was a blast to put together. Mind you, hes like me- no real equipment- so this was done on a Mac in a couple hours with the built in computer mic, while he played.
THE PRESIDENT'S EYES
Mothers camp beneath the stars
Dreaming of children who've died.
Hearts sick of war, blood, and tears,
They ask themselves why.
Black vans speed Texas roads,
White dust fouls the sky.
Behind black windows staring,
They can feel,
The President's Eyes.
The Secretary of Defense
Uses language as a game,
Reporters from great papers
Are very easily tamed.
Fuil of tension and of fear,
They laugh quickly at his joking lies.
Someone else is laughing, too,
There's laughter in,
The President's Eyes.
What does he see as he looks around,
This land that he has made,
Promises to children,
That have been betrayed.
Their gifts and their treasures,
Spent on war and lies,
Someone said they must be blind,
Blind,
The President's Eyes.
Blind,
The President's Eyes.
Two nations tortured,
So many people dead.
Does he ever wonder about,
the live they once led.
Black vans speed down Texas roads,
By mothers watchful eyes.
In one, somewhere hiding,
They can feel
The President's Eyes.
Blind,
The President's Eyes.
Blind,
The President's Eyes.
Blind,
The President's Eyes.
Blind,
The President's Eyes.
Mothers camp beneath the stars
Dreaming of children who've died.
Hearts sick of war, blood, and tears,
They ask themselves why.
